6 Best Instagram Spots in Milan

Ever wondered what the 6 best Instagram spots in Milan are?

This vibrant city is a beloved travel destination for any fashionista and it’s becoming more and more popular lately, so do not forget to add Milan to your itinerary as it is definitely worth visiting!

1. The Duomo

Standing guard over Milan for more 600 years, the Duomo is the most known landmark in the city. The square in front of the cathedral is so impressive, but we think that the best way to enjoy the beauty of Duomo is  from above. You have to go all the way up to the terraces for extraordinary vantage points all over the city. There is a small fee to gain access but it is totally worth it, especially at sunset time! You can book your visit here.

2. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Directly beside the Duomo you will find your next location: the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. This place is absolutely incredible. We do not understand how a building with such intricate details can exist, but it does. You could probably point your camera in any direction from the centre and have an amazing photo. However, as this is home to many luxury stores, it gets very busy during the day, so it is best to head here in the early hours of the morning to get the best snaps.

3. Arco della Pace

Does the name ‘Arco della Pace’ remind you of something else? Of course it resembles the Arc de Triomphe of Paris! And you know why? Because this place marks the end of the Strada del Sempione into Milan, which linked the two cities through the Alps.

Milan’s current gate, the Arch of Peace, was built under the Napoleonic rule in the 19th century by Luigi Cagnola. The arch is of neoclassical style and is engraved with the important historical events in Europe as well as classical mythology. It’s got free admission an no opening times, so you can go there at any time you want.

4. Bosco Verticale

Bosco Verticale is one of the new landmarks of the city and it must be included in the 6 best Instagram spots in Milan. This place won several awards, including the International Highrise Award in 2014 and the Best Tall Building Worldwide in 2015. The Bosco Verticale, better called Vertical Forest, is a very innovative type of sustainable residential buildings that will impress you even if you know nothing about modern architecture. This is definitely a place you gotta see when in Milan, and do not forget to check the fabulous Piazza Gae Aulenti as well, it is just a stone’s throw from here! This is such a lovely area plenty of restaurants and amazing street art all around!

5. Navigli

I think Navigli is our favourite location in Milan. This neighbourhood is known for its system of canals, the main one being Naviglio Grande. Along the canals you will find a bunch of quaint places to eat, bars, shops and stalls. You can spend several days in Navigli and not run out of things to do. And of course, it’s all so instagrammable!

6. Piazza Maria Adelaide di Savoia

The last location is just a bonus we give you! There is no landmark or museum here, but believe us, if you go there in the autumn you will be astonished. The fall foliage is incredible here and there is a view you cannot find anywhere else in the world. The yellow historical trams of Milan passing through the orange trees are a sight you will never forget!
