We’ve been to Paris many, many times over the years and stayed in a mix of hotels whilst in the city. The Shangri-La Paris had long been on our radar because it’s well-known to be one of the best luxury hotels in France’s capital. From start to finish our stay was everything we had dreamed of and more, and we’re so excited to tell you more about it!
Location
The Shangri-La Paris is situated on Avenue d’Iéna in the elegant 16th arrondissement, where you’ll find the Museum of Modern Art, Palais de Tokyo and your usual assortment of Parisian brasseries and boulangeries.
It’s around a 10-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, 15 minutes to the Champs Elysees, with a metro stop just around the corner.
The Hotel’s glorious past
The hotel is an old mansion built in 1899 for Prince Roland Bonaparte, and was restored by Shangri-La back in 2010 and turned into a hotel. They’ve lovingly restored it and kept many of the original features, but of course the signature Shangri-La scent fills your nostrils as soon as you enter.
Rooms and Suites
The hotel contains 63 rooms, 37 suites and four signature suites, with 40 per cent of the rooms and 60 per cent of the suites showcasing breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower. We stayed in the amazing Eiffel View Room, a spacious and elegant room with French-style bedrooms and large, airy windows offering unparalleled views of the Eiffel Tower.Featuring silk-threaded wallpaper and custom made European empire furnishings, the room was a harmonious blend of imperial Paris and Asian aesthetics. The bedding was plush and the bathroom was equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable night’s stay. The room was seriously impeccable, with the attention to detail and charm in every corner. But the real kicker was the view. As you look out the window, you’re met with a sweeping view of the city including a clear, up-close view of the Iron Lady. There’s also a fantastic view of the tower from the marble bathroom, so you can watch her light up after dark while soaking in the tub after a long day of exploring cobblestone streets.
