There’s plenty of activities to do in Trentino no matter what the season, but how can you say no to a full day in the farm in close contact with nature? Immerse yourself in the rhythms and beauty of farm life through “Made by Me” in Visit Trentino’s cooking classes and cultural activities.
Many family farms all over Trentino are offering an authentic rural experience, set in real farmhouses located in the heart of the Dolomites and surrounded by beautiful mountains and vineyards, and steeped in Ladin and Alpine history.
For northern Italy area families, it only takes a few hours to arrive in the bucolic countryside, where the landscape seems thousands of miles away from the crowded subways and packed playgrounds. It’s no wonder that farm stays are an increasingly popular vacation option to enjoy a back-to-nature experience. And plus, for children who’ve never been around livestock, such stays provide a firsthand way to learn about the animal world in a casual fashion.

A day at the farm
This truly unique experience from the ground to the table started in the morning, when we were welcome by farm owner Alessandro, who revealed us the secrets of beekeeping and the deep love for his animals.
Later in the morning, he brought us to the nearby fields to collect apples, onions and herbs and then off we went in the kitchen to prepare an onion and apple jam.
Guided by restless and super kind Alessandro’s wife Aurora, we started preparing the jam. We peeled and cut apples into small pieces, we chopped onions and then we added some sugar and let it caramelize in a stock pot. Finally, we added some lemon juice, herbs and spices and let it simmer. A couple of hours later our tasty jam was ready to be taken home with us!
This wonderful day ended with a typical Ladin lunch together with an amazing group of friends.
Between a homemade dish, a chat and a smile, time passed far too quickly at Ciasa dò Paré and it was already time to say goodbye, but we will definitely be back at this cosy and welcoming farm.
